This will be my first attempt at “Blogging”…. So what has brought me to this point? Well, I’m an inventor with a passion for innovation. I discovered at a young age I loved to build, almost anything from wooden go-carts to tree houses. I also spent many summer days in rural Wisconsin digging deep holes in fields and connecting them with tunnels. This passion was fueled one summer day when I was standing by a local railroad track by our home waiting for the train to pass (to flatten a penny I put on the track) when I saw something coming down the tracks that was strange to me. Being a curious 6 years old boy, I waited for this strange vision to get closer, as it did I realized it was an old scruffy looking man, with long dirty white hair and beard riding a bicycle on the tracks, and it was powered by a motor. Now for a young adventurous 6-year-old boy, it didn’t get any better than that. The penny that I was waiting for the train to crush was now distant memory. As he rode past and smiled, I looked at this contraption and little did I know, it would change my life and the way I looked at everything forever. I spent many summer days waiting for this hobo inventor to come by again, and every once in a while I would catch him riding down the tracks.
I’ll speak more about this man in my next blog, as he truly merits more time than I’ve given him in this first attempt. I would continue searching for information about him for the next 50 plus years and really realize how he affected the path in life that I would choose to walk.
I hope you stop on back from time to time and check out my humble ramblings….
